Abstract The Paris COP21 held on December 2015 represented a step forward global GHG emission reduction: this led to intensify research efforts in renewables, including biofuels and bioliquids. However, addressing sustainable bioliquid routes value chains which can limit or reverse the ILUC (indirect land-use change effect) is of paramount importance. Given background condition, present study targets analysis modelling new integrated biomass conversion pathway produce renewable advanced fuels, enabling issue indirect (ILUC) be tackled. bioenergy chain under investigation integrates decentralized production biogas through anaerobic digestion its upgrading biomethane, followed by centralized liquid transport involving methane reforming into syngas, Fischer–Tropsch (FT) synthesis, methanol synthesis. methodology adopted work stem from extensive literature review suitable bio/thermo-chemical technologies their process using commercial flow-diagram simulation software carried out. major significance understand different approaches, allow estimation yields mass/energy balances: such way, aims at providing guidance modellers targeting qualitative quantitative assessments routes. Beyond FT products, additional pathways have been also explored, as MeOH synthesis captured CO 2 direct (DMTM). demonstrated that it possible model innovative processes selected tool. still needed regards DMTM process, where studies about route same tool not yet identified literature.
